Here is a sad little chair that rescued from the landfill............ I'm sure she was a beauty in "her day".
I brought her home and without any idea what I would do to her, I started playing with some fabric I had and after a day of stapling, gluing and swearing (not really), here is one version of her new look:
I actually didn't have enough of the yellow fabric, so I looked around my heaping closet of remnants and found this blue fabric, and thus the flip side looks like this:
Just love what a new outfit can do for an old gal, don't you?
Please join the lovely Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for more metamorphosis.
Looks great! I am now inspired to cover two "old gals" that I have!:-) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWow you are good. I love the chair and the combination of fabric is just wonderful. She looks like she's ready for a party. Seriously, it is just stunning. Great job. Hugs,Marty

Rose, You're amazing! The chair is gorgeous now. I love the fabrics and trim that you used. ♥
ReplyDeleteI've thought of attempting to reupholster a chair & bought books, which were intimidating. I have a couple of questions. Do you remove the old fabric and all of the stuffing material, then start over rebuilding the chair, or do you cover up the existing fabric and/or stuffing material??? ☺♥☺
Diane
Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful...
ReplyDeleteI wish my Couch were done... Haven't had time to work on it, but it is almost finished. I love doing furniture!!! I love yours, I always say you need at least 3 different fabrics!!! Beautiful choices.
I love the new look to the old chair, especially the fringe! It is amazing what some new fabric and fringe can do to a chair. You did a great job!! Love & blessings from NC!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the look and that fringe!!! My sofa and big chair have 5 or so different fabrics on it and I love it. Now, why can't our landfill/dump have a place for furniture? It does for chemicals and I've gotten all sorts of paint there......
ReplyDeleteLove it! Beautiful change for a neat little chair!
ReplyDeleteGreat job,I love that you rescued that chair and gave it a new life,it's beautiful, love the fringe.

ReplyDeleteABSOLUTELY ADORABLE~~~ So fun & lighthearted!!! You are GOOOOD, my friend! Best, Linda
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely makeover on a chair..and your landfill has some treasures. Chairs like this one usually end up in 2nd hand shops around here and in awful shape will go for a pretty penny!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying the creativity in your blog!
NOW that my friend worked wonders for that chair! It completely changed character! :-)

ReplyDeleteDid you keep the blue or yellow fabric for the seat? What is the fringe? I am in love! Hubby is not getting a hold on anymore of my chairs! He been throwing them out! I going to hide them. lol
ReplyDeleteI love it!! It looks like an expensive chair in a specialty store.Great job!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love a new outfit! Yours turned out so cute. You're so creative.
ReplyDeleteI love the new duds on this old gal. I've got an old gal that could use some new clothes, and I don't mean only myself!
ReplyDeleteI really am intrigued by how you were able to cover this chair --it looks re-upholstered -- yet you didn't have to strip it down and do a traditional makeover. Brilliant.
Cass
This is just too cute, what a great colorful transformation. I especially love that amazing trim! I have a sad little chair that I believe is going to get real happy soon, thanks for great post!
ReplyDeleteThis is utterly charming ....
ReplyDeleteThat is so darling. I liked the original chair just fine until seeing your amazing transformation. I love upholstery that incorporates several fabrics and textures. It is a tricky process but you accomplished perfection. Love, love, love it.

ReplyDeleteLou Cinda :)
This is so cool!!!
ReplyDeleteOnce I did something similar to an old wing chair, and then when we downsized I gave a to a young bride of my acquaintance. She absolutely loved it, but I have wished in my secret heart-of-hearts that I had it back -- yes, not very charitable I know. But there you have it...
Scribbler
Awesome and clever redo. Hope you enjoy relaxing in it for many years. Fabulous!

I still am just in awe of that darling chair. I have a small chair almost like it and I havn't got the faintest idea of how to redo it, but I think I will take the old upholstery off and give it a try. Yours is so great. Mine has a tight seat so I don't think I can use the frings, but boy do I love all the different fabrics you used. Thanks for stopping by my Met. Mon post and such kind comments. The granite really did make a huge difference in the kit even if it was just on the island. Thanks again, Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteIt was love at first sight for me when I saw this chair for the very first time. I was just in awe. Oh, how I wish I could sew...I have 2 wonderful old chairs and an ottoman that I would dearly love to make PRETTY, like this one. I don't know the first thing about covering a chair, tho.
ReplyDeleteYou are so good at what you do...
