The Longest Yardsale

The World's Longest Yard Sale took place this past weekend (August 6-9) along U.S. Highway 127 from Gadsden, Alabama... through Tennessee... and up to Kentucky. It gets upwards of 100,000 yard sale shoppers each year.

I visited my friend from Chattanooga and after a great lunch, we drove up to Signal Mountain to experience this flea market mecca!

This mountain is fairly high and the road is scary and windy. I'm so glad I wasn't driving!

This is actually someone's home... it's for sale right now, so you better hurry up and buy it, the view from here is "out of this world".

I just loved seeing all of mismash of junk, I mean treasures, that were there to be bought.
Just loving the signs.

Self service dental work........

"The buck stops here".........

I guess Elvis didn't want to miss out on a bargain either!

Do you think I could still order one?!?

Isn't this the cutest little out house? :p
Love the sign on it....

Here's an "ugly mug"....

and a little surprise inside....

Imagine seeing that after your first sip of coffee ...

I hope you enjoyed the ride. I didn't get much of anything, but I did spend the day in garage sale paradise and had a wonderful time with my friends.

For more great outdoor fun, go to Susan's at A Southern Daydreamer.

I would be in heaven at that garage sale. I know they have one in Georgia, but this one blows me away.
I live in Canada... nothing like that here.

You forgot about Ohio in the Longest Yard Sale and it is almost to the Michigan border. We had a tremendous amount of people here at our, and one in particular from Nevada. Yes, we live 25 miles north of Cincinnati, Ohio.

I have always wanted to go to this thing! What fun you must have had! I'm jealous! Was it just overwhelming? I'm afraid I'd have a hard time deciding when to stop and when to drive on by. I'd always think I was passing up the best deal of the day. You took some great photos. laurie

We were on the longest yard sale. We didn't go up the mountain because of the traffic and the winding road, looks like we missed the best part...lol...we found several areas with great stuff and some stops with pure junk. We started in Gadsden, AL. and stopped in Jamestown, TN.

Thanks for the tour! DH and I have been talking about trying to see some of this one year. I would have to have come home with the Fresh Eggs sign - have no idea where I would put it, but it cracks me up! Oh and the blue stemware. Now DH would have tried to buy that VW van - not sure if it was for sale. Thanks for a great post. Kathy

I am new to blogging, so may have missed something when I was trying to look for an email to leave a reply... (I have learned that you can NOT write back to a blogger when it says it is going to "noreply" haha)

so sorry for going about this through a comment on your post...

-our oldest is in her final year of dental school (it was through her that I learned what a blog was! www.theluckiestmrs.blogspot.com). with school and their computer in for repairs, she hasnt posted as frequently, but if you take a peek, I know that she'd love to find a comment from you. Do your daughters blog?)

-our second daughter is in her 2nd year of dental school.
-our son is in his 2nd year of undergrad. They are all at UK, in Lexington.

If you would, please email me at mgbotelho21@gmail.com...I dont want to take up all your comment space ;o)

Oh wow, I have been browsing all your great photos when I see the one of Elvis sitting with his guitar. How funny is this: I like in Croatia and the closest Burger King to us is in GRAZ, AUSTRIA and sometimes we take our kids there for a treat. Anyhow, the exact same Elvis is sitting right next to the counter at the BK in Graz (home of Arnold Schwarzenegger) Austria.

Just a useless yet curious piece of info!
