Tulips Two Ways

Tulips are one of my favorite flowers........

They look lovely no matter how they are arranged... here they are in a crystal vase.

For a fun transformation and one you'd spend a pretty penny on at the florist, here's what you need:

A large clear vase, (mine is rectangular, but you can use a regular shape), a smaller clear vase that fits inside the large one with a little room to spare...
....and one or two oranges....

This is what you do:

Put your flowers and water in the small vase...
Put that vase inside the large vase...
Then pour some water into the large vase (half way full)
Cut your orange into thin slices...drop them in between the large and small vase. They need to be wedged tightly, or they'll float....

...And Voila, Tah Dah and Presto...

You've made a designer arrangement.....

Head over to Susan's BNOTP for more !

Oh that's lovely! And I love tulips, they're one of my favorite flowers.

I did a similar treatment once with lemons and cranberries for a holiday candle centerpiece.

Gorgeous!

Very pretty! My daughter used to do wedding flowers and she did a lot of fruit with flowers. We also put varigated hosta leaves inside the clear vase; it hides oasis well. Another trick is to fill a glass container with whole fruit and then set a clear plastic tray on top of it; put the flower arrangement on top, using oasis. That makes a gorgeous table centerpiece. Maybe you will have fun with those ideas. I am a lazy slob and don't do much flower arranging any more; I think daughter wore me out on it!

I didn't know how else to contact you re:L your Christmas plates I viewed tonight on your blog (your entire site is beautiful). The artist who created the whimsical santas on your plates is Peggy Abrams of Flint, MI. Her images are on just about everything you can put them on. She had a local studio, but I noticed it is closed recently. I don't have any other information, but that's who creates those beautiful images of santa. She also does equally impressive angels.

Lovely blog. I have been following for over a year. Love what you do at Christmas. However, my delemma is this. I view a blog post, make a mental note to go back to it, then forget which blog I was on. So, my question is have you recently posted a blog about a new rug in your kitchen? Thanks.

Hi Rose! I tried to find an email address for you, but I couldn't. I love the idea of a French dinner! What book are you reading? I saw that Peter Mayle has a new novel, but I haven't read it yet. I love quiche. It comes form Lorraine..where I lived! Crepes are a good idea, I think, because you can do entrée crepes and dessert crepes. I love fondue...but it's a little more Swiss. Of course, there are worlds of wonderful desserts! One of my favorites is creme brulée. When is your dinner? I am glad you like my music! I sometimes debate about taking it off, but I love it, too! Let me know if I can help you come up with more ideas. Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie
