I am excited to be participating in Susan's at Between Naps on the Porch weekly event...Table
Top Thursday! Please go visit her blog and see many many other!
One would assume that plates are for tablescaping, but I, for one believe there is so much more to do with beautiful plates, than to set a pretty table.
I have always been a big fan of using plates as art. Recently, I have starting "collecting" photos from goggle of plates that I love and arrangements that are pleasing as well as interesting.
What a wonderful arrangement this makes over the bed. My only fear is ....well....one of those gorgeous plates landing on my head in the middle of the night!
Don't these plates look amazing on this pink wall? They are actually clear glass plates, backed with fabric.
This is the most creative arrangement , which I first site, I didn't love, but after looking at it, I really like, because it has such a feeling of movement and just something fresh and unexpected.

Now we come to my personal favorite, the traditional and always in vogue: blue and white.
You can't go wrong with this winning combo, in my book.
Below is a photo of my dining room in S.C. I know you can't tell by the picture, but there was a pattern involved in the arrangement. I loved my blue dining room!
Here we are at Christmas...
My present dining room is painted a paprika red and really show off the blue and white.
Funny thing about this photo below, when I posted it on Rate My Space, I got many nice comments, except for one. She said, I think you could have come up with a more pleasant arrangent. It looks like somebody was just juggling the plates in the air. You know what's funny?!? That was exactly the look I was going for. I wanted them to look like they were almost in motion.
Hey, you can't just stick to plates, how about a teapot and cup and saucer?
Coffee, anyone?
These are a couple of colorful Italian plates I have collected for my kitchen.
Here are some in one of my guest rooms....

I love using plates as art, and I think the plates in your dining room are just lovely. I especially love them next to the blue walls. Thanks for sharing and happy TT to you!
WOW! There are a lot of things to do with plates besides put them on the table or display one in a stand! Thanks for the inspirational photos. Love the comment you shared about someone thinking the plates looked like they were "juggled" - your pattern does look like "motion" and is terrific!

I, too, love using plates on my walls, as well. Your's are beautiful and, yes, it is hard to go wrong with blue and white. I should do a post on my plates on the wall...hmmmm..thanks for the inspiration.
hugs, bj

Rose, what a fun and inspiring posts. I like you, love the traditional blue and white. Definitely can't go wrong with that combo..throw in a bit of red and you've got yourself a winner in my book. Thanks for the heads up about Design Star on Sunday.. I'll have the popcorn ready... lol.
hugs ~lynne~
Using plates as art in the bedroom...what a wonderful idea! I have used plates in the usual spots...kitchen, dining room, etc, but never thought of using them as a headboard. Interesting! Inspiring!!!
When I first moved into this house, I was faced with a wall of shelves...and nothing to put on them. That began my journey of reverse painting and decoupaging glass plates. So much fun! Happy TT!

People are VERY creative with plates!
I love this post, so interesting how you have used plates in each room! I adore the blue and white! Wow the red makes it look great! I'm sneaking in red on hubby and a little pink here and there! lol I laughed and laughed at thinking the plate might fall on your head! Love your dishes!
LOL! O.K. the next house I get I'm sticking plates on the outside! How fun is that and just think of all the plates I'd feel obligated to buy!!
Manuela
Wow, thanks for a non-traditional sharing. I may have to show my dish walls one Thursday. :0)
At least you got a great clue about WHY?! the dish thing. I keep wondering why I love English junk china pieces..can't stop getting more of it.
Rose, these inspiration pictures are wonderful, especially the ones in your home! I always loved those b/w plates in your dining room. laurie

Love your dining rooms, past and present!
Well, first of all I love your paprika walls. That's always been my favorite shade of red. It really makes your plates "Pop". I'm sure I gave you 5 stars on RMS.
That home with all of the plates on the outside is cute! I bet that's where you get it from! ~ Robyn
I have a weakness for blue and white plates and have quite a collection now I acquired from my Mother...I just love your dining room (both colors) and the plates on the wall...I wish I was brave enough to paint my walls red!! The picture of the plates outside covering the building in Spain is just wonderful! I love it! Thanks for the inspiration!! Miss Bloomers/Sonia
Oh WOW, all of these arrangements are absolutely stunning, and I love both your old dining room and your new! Your plate arrangements are GORGEOUS!

Love the way all of those plates are used! Thanks for coming by. Going back to the RMS days, I still think of you and your chairs everytime I cover one. I loved your "costal" bedroom and the way you covered your "finds".

I'm afraid it is true, I've had a very bad case of that farm bug but I think I'm starting to shake it off!
I LOVE the one of the plates on the outside of the buildings in Spain! FUN!
And I think your dinning room walls look amazing. Love the plates & the tea pot pictures. Thanks for sharing!
