A Quick Trip to Germany........

Recently I had the pleasure of going to Germany for a quick trip...

I was enchanted by the Alpine buildings...

Colorful flowers every where......

Love the mandavilla wrapped around this light post...

Let's go in the shops and get an authentic Alpine outfit, shall we?!?

I'm ready for a tall glass of coke, wait....make that a cold lite beer..........

A horse and buggy ride is in our future....

Question is, which horse?

Let's hop on this one...

Is it time for dinner yet?! I'd like to eat here, I hear they make a great bratwurst......

Each sight is so picturesque...

Postcard perfect...

Oh my goodness, we almost missed this shop...

I'm in Blue and White heaven...

I'd like one of each, please... the best part of traveling is bringing back a souvenir, don't you think? Any of these plates would look wonderful in my dining room.

We've had such a great trip to Germany, I'm so glad you decided to come with us....

APRIL FOOL!!!!!! This was a "Quick" trip to "Germany" because it took us about 2 hours to drive there from N.W. Atlanta, Ga....!

This is Helen, Georgia! Located in the beautiful North Georgia mountains. It was a struggling little town full of unemployment when someone had the idea to replicate his experience in the Bavarian region of Germany. The mountains and rivers provided the perfect back drop for this fun little Bavarian town .

Hope you enjoyed the visit...

You had me on this one!! I was fooled from the beginning. And since I'm planning a trip to the real Germany in 2011, I could hardly wait to buy blue and white dishes. On my last trip to Europe, I didn't buy near enough dishes; so I'm going to plan better this time. Thanks for sharing your short, fun trip!! Sally

Oh Rose, how fun! What a picture-perfect place, and what perfect pictures you took of it! Everything looks so bright and clean. I may have to make a trip there some day. You've sure tempted me. In my most recent post, the "colored pencil drawing" was done on Photoscape. If you don't have a MAC computer, you can download Photoscape free. It's fairly easy to use (I use it in almost every post I do). Let me know if you have any questions about it, and I'll try to help. Great to come visit you. Seems like it's been forever since I have been over here, and here you had been to Germany and back! laurie

You had me fooled too! My sister Holly has just been to Germany and she loved it! I was going to send the link to this post to her to ask her to go back to get me some blue and white dishes!!

Best wishes,

LOL! I kept thinking this is just too picture perfect! Not like the Germany I have heard envisioned. But what a really neat place to visit and alot more obtainable for this SC gal. I may have to check it out! Enjoyed your post!

I have been there! Still have Christmas ornaments that I bought on that trip and it was probably 18 years ago. :)

LOL! You know, I was saying to myself that I don't remember Germany being quite so colorful (I grew up there)!

I've never been to Helen but really have to put it on my list of places to visit.

That was fun!

Okay Lady...I was not fooled the minute I saw that first picture...It has been probably 20 years since I've been up to Helen...once you have been to the real thing....well lets just say we never went back...but it's looking pretty cute these days...do they still have all the garbage cans painted like little German children....

I love it!!! I lived in Germany for a couple of years and was trying to figure out where this might be! I didn't see anyone who looked really German, but when you said "lite" beer, I knew this couldn't be Germany! What a beautiful place! Enchanting! I may have to plan a visit for my family!

You know, at 1st I thought you were trying to play a joke b/c it reminded me of Epcot, but then, I bought in to it and BELIEVED YOU! Gulp! (that was me swallowing hook, line and sinker!) The blue dishes reminded me of when we were @ Epcot last yr. b/c I liked all their blue/white dishes (and when I looked at the back of them, as you might expect, they were made in CHINA. I thought the point was to buy authentic things from the country. Go figure. Hope you enjoyed your getaway. I'd love to go there sometime. I didn't even know it exist.

We were just there not long ago! Helen is fun to visit every so often!
Thanks for your comment on my Tablescape. The window treatment came from a thrift store in Dawson, GA (SW Georgia) and unfortunately this Saturday is their last day of operation. :( They said they weren't getting enough donations to support it. The window treatment was actually part of an entire set...they had two small ones, one medium size and a bedspread in RL fabric to match! They were selling as a set for....$30! I had nowhere to put the rest or I would have bought it too!
