I am a huge fan of Toile....especially blue and yellow...such a cheerful combination.. so when I spotted these little plates a couple of years ago, I had to grab them. Here I combined them with a gold charger, yellow place mat and white dinner plate.
The linen napkin is secured with a mini blueberry wreath.....
This is my favorite... I used a blue willow dinner plate under it and i think it really made the colors pop... the toile place mat really sets it off..
In French, toile means fabric or linen... the pattern was created in a small village near Versailles, called Jouy.....in 1760 by Christopher Philippe Overkampt..Usually the designs depict love, travel, royalty, mythology or a pastoral countryside. These designs remain popular and are considered classics .
Now..............bring on the French Fries !!!!
Yay! It Fits!

My mother's favorite kitchen colors were blue and yellow. I always think of her when I see it together. Your toile table is beautiful.
As a BIG fan of toile, you can imagine how much I love your tablescape. I love yellow and blue together, something so fresh and wonderful about it. I've never used it in my decor though...Hmmm...
The dishes you put together just pop against each other. Wonderful!

I love Toile! The colors of the blue & yellow are such smile makers...these dishes are so pretty together..you always decorate things so beautifully..I believe the 'French Fries' could stand alone without their ketchup on these beauties! lol lol Have a great day!
Lovely! I really like how you wrote about the history of toile...My mother had some blue willow (I think) I always liked them...we used them every day..they must have all broken..or I would have some for myself! I have never seen the yellow and blue together...it is really beautiful!..and how did you ever find the placemats to match?!...take care, ~Cindy~
Beautiful. I love the blue and the yellow together. Looks great. A yummy looking table to sit at for a yummy meal.
In answer to your ? about Sheila...she lives on Galveston Island and no one has heard from her since IKE....she has had a few pre-posteds on her blog but I think she is either not back to the house, the house was destroyed or just no power restored down there yet. She and her family moved to higher ground, tho, thru the storm....we are all just concerned about her....
Is there anything in this world prettier than blue and yellow toile! I'm not a "dish person"...but boy do I lust after these!!!
I am so clueless about toile, however I do love santas. I collect them and at Christmas I have every nook filled. I always wanted a room just to display my collection. I'm going to add you to my blog list , if you don't mind., because with the season coming upon us I don't want to miss anything that is on your blog. Please stop by and say hello.
Hugs,
Chris

I love toile! I am a fan of the black, also the red and yellow. A lot of my house is yellow. I found you at Bridgets. Kathy
That is a wonderful tablescape!! The mention of French Fries with your French toile brought back a wonderful memory. We were eating at a pretty fancy lunch place in Paris - everything was beautifully presented including the French Fries (they didn't call them that, though) which were stacked architectually like a building. I almost hated to destoy such a presentation!! Sally
