Okay, here goes nothing.............. So, I am an official geek now, wow! This blogging thing is quite a rush............ I don't really know where to begin.
First off, a guess I'll tell you a little bit about me;
I am almost 50 years old and still don't really know what I want "to be"! I thought I wanted to be a highschool teacher, but found out after a couple of short months after I received my degree, that I absolutely hated it. So I worked at various jobs until my first child was born and then my full time occupation was that of a MOM...and so it has been for the last 23 years. Meanwhile, in order to save my sanity, I would scrounge up any spare time I could find to put my creative energies to work. I enjoyed all sorts of crafts and even started a craft group that met up once a month. These were all women with small children as myself that craved a little slice of "me time" in their ever revolving world of diapers, naps, play dates and tantrums. Oh, how I would count down the days until our next meeting! We were all starving for adult contact and when that included a mindless craft, coffee and dessert, and our endless stories of frustrating mommyhood mishaps....well, that was just what the doctor ordered! Laughing at ourselves and others, it felt like the "sisterhood of the traveling craft- therapy group".

Hi Santamaker, and welcome to blogland, it really is quite fun, you will enjoy yourself I am sure. I love your Santas, I love collecting them too. I am sure Christmas around your home is so pretty with all your beautiful Santas.
Hi, Santa! So glad you have a blog! Was wondering how you learned to upholster? Would love to learn also (so if you have a book or something to suggest, I'd appreciate it). I'm also a HUGE Santa collector (vintage & new), so I, too, would love to see more of your work. Hope to show some if I can figure how to download some rooms by Christmas. Have only lived here 1 year, so the house is still a WIP. Had mentioned on your RMS "former" dining room space that I had lived in Gamecock country previously. By chance, you didn't live in Ascot, did you? I had a neighbor there who attended auctions weekly. Never made it to one, as by the time I got unpacked, my husband informed me we were moving again. Loved the Columbia Antique Mall downtown (shout out to my fellow Tarheel!) Looking forward to reading your blogs! LOL!
Hi Tardevil,
i just learned upholstery through trial and error.. just go to a thrift store and buy a cheap chair and use it for practice. When we lived in sc, we lived in the NE area. Woodcreek Farms. I have a couple of friends that live in Ascot. This was only my second auction. What fun!!!
Thanks for dropping by. Can't wait to see your collection!
be good,
santa
Hi Santamaker,
Thanks for the quick response! Will have to get the nerve up to tackle re-upholstering. Haven't tried an auction yet either, but it's on my "Ta Do" list. Enjoying your blog. Looking forward to reading more!
Good morning Santa:
I thought of you, so I had to drop by leave you some info. I was playing on Horchow's website, and saw they have their "seasonal" Santas posted. Thought you might want to take a look...if you haven't already. I'm not into the Southwestern look, but I thought the Sante Fe one was really pretty. Please take a look if you get some free time & haven't already. http://www.horchow.com click on seasonal, then santas. Have a great weekend!
Tardevil, thanks so much for telling me about the santas on the Horchows website. It's always great to get some inspiration.
Oh Girl, your santa's are so beautiful. You are so talented! I loved the story of your life too...I know it must have felt so wonderful having that group meeting with the girls that you got started, I didn't have anything like that when mine were little.... you did great getting that started and I can imagine how much fun it was....I wish I would have had the internet way back then, don't you?! I think the stay at home mom's of today have a great support through internet friends.... that share the same interests and have the same things in common. God Bless all them all out there. I loved your story. I don't know how you found my blog, but I'm glad you did, because now I know about you and I will be visiting you! Have a great day!
xoxo,
Queenie!
